Task 5 aims to implement the participatory methodology, by testing in case studies and developing an handbook describing the methodology.
Sub-Tarefa 5.1 | Case-study selection
The methodology will be applied in case studies in the Matas do Litoral territory. The selection of the case studies is necessary due to the extension of the burned area, which integrates several public forestland in the territory of seven municipalities, including 16 local communities (parishes). The case studies will be selected considering the impacts of 2017’s wildfires, and will target distinct examples of involvement and relationship with the Matas do Litoral territory.

This task concerns the organization of logistics, facilitation and development of the methodology in the case studies.
Sub-Task 5.3 | Tuning the participatory methodology and publication of a handbook
The results from each stakeholder participatory activity will be analysed, and a handbook describing the structure, methods and tools, activities, resources, expected outcomes, lessons for success, tips for facilitation and timing of each participatory activity, will be developed aiming to provide decision-makers, managers and other stakeholders a useful tool to be replicated in other forest areas.
Expected results
To test the participatory methodology and to publish an handbook for its wider use
To increase stakeholder participation in decisions affecting the Matas do Litoral rehabilitation after 2017’s wildfires
